ABOUT CHARLES CLAPSHAW

ARTIST CV: CHARLES CLAPSHAW:

E: i@charlesclapshaw.com
I: instagram.com/charlesclapshaw

Charles was born in Auckland, New Zealand but quickly left to explore the world.

He didn’t get to study art at school, instead he was told to learn mathematics, computer science and philosophy.

However a constant theme throughout Charles’ life is art encounters - with a strange combination of painting and technology. He started with Oliver Marsden in Montpellier, France and despite distractions such a digital life* + a complicated family, he has exhibited consistently throughout his time on all continents.

*Charles previous ‘digital life’ relates to a short sojourn (1998 - 2012) in the advertising industry where he was the Worldwide President of an advertising network (TBWA) and founded the Digital Arts network based in Madison Avenue before rejecting the rise of the corporation and retreating to Asia and the South Pacific.
